Teaching Mindfulness With Trauma Sensitivity
with Sydney Spears, PhD, RYT-200

May 19 (Saturday)
at 1:30 pm

Class length
420 minutes

Recently there has been more focus on the critical need for service providers, the general public and organizations to become trauma-informed. As a result, more people and systems have increased their sensitivity and understanding of the severe impact of traumatic experiences. When offered sensitively and in an informed way, mindfulness can help in reducing the suffering of unresolved or undischarged trauma. Offering mindfulness without this sensitivity can actually contribute to harm.

This important training is a workshop style class for people who share the practices and attitudes of mindfulness with others, guides participants in an experiential journey toward greater sensitivity and awareness in implementing mindfulness practices from a trauma-aware perspective. As mindfulness professionals, pursuing continuing education is part of our ethical charge for keeping our participants safe.
