Did you know the practice of mindfulness can help us build a number of foundational skills for cultivating mental health and wellbeing? Former Naropa University president Judy Lief calls these skills “abilities beyond the verbal and conceptual to include matters of heart, character, creativity, self-knowledge, concentration, openness and mental flexibility.” They also help inoculate us against the harmful conditioning and illusions that contribute to personal and collective suffering. Join us the 2nd Monday in Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, and Dec  from 7-8:30 pm to explore and practice mindful strategies for improving attention and concentration, increasing self-awareness, enhancing emotional regulation, expanding distress tolerance, promoting cognitive flexibility, and relating more skillfully. Each class will include an explanation of concepts, practice and discussion. Between session support, opportunities for further learning and practice suggestions will be offered. These classes are suitable for the general public but 1.5 CEs are also available per class for KS & MO licensed mental health professionals.

Please check the class location to see if you are registering to attend online via Zoom or in-person at the Peace Pod (some offer both options). You can read about our online etiquette here https://mindfulness-alliance.org/offerings/online-offerings/. If you attend in person, please arrive on time as the suite doors are locked and teacher may not hear you to let you in after the class begins.

This program is teacher led and community based, emphasizing many voices, personal reflection, and opportunities to connect deeply with others. Gentle mindful movement may be included in some classes so you may wish to wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
