at 12:00 pm (GMT-06:00)

Class length
90 minutes

Location

Friday Nov 26, 2021 is National Day of Listening (an alternative to a consumption driven Black Friday) and Native American Heritage Day. To honor both of these traditions, please join us for a council practice in which we will explore our histories, heritage, and hopes for the future. Listening compassionately and speaking authentically increases our sense of belonging and Indigenous cultures have long utilized council circle practices as a form of mindful communication that can heal conflicts, strengthen relationships, and build communities.

During this day of listening, your guide will provide instructions for mindful listening and compassionate sharing using several prompts for reflection based on the Story Corps "Great Questions List". Any donations received from this event will go to @KCINDIANCENTER Kansas City Indian Center (KCIC, (founded in 1971), offering food pantry and emergency services for low-income American Indians, a substance abuse outpatient treatment and prevention program, annual youth camp, and various classes and events.

When: Friday Nov 26, 2021 from noon - 1:30 pm (US Central time zone) online via Zoom
