“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach… .”Many of you might have read Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden” in high school or college as part of an English class requirement. Now, join
Shane Ledford CMT-200, CYT-200 as he re-visits this classic of American literature, and explores its prevailing theme of mindfulness and reconnecting with one’s true self via the guidance of nature. By living simply and (somewhat) disconnected from the then-modern world, Thoreau was able to examine what was occurring within himself…as well as society around him. It will be offered that the meditations proposed from this 170-year old novel are just as relevant and meaningful today as they were almost two centuries ago.
