The Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness DiversAbilities Community Mindfulness Practice Group offers a protected space of ease and support for those who self-identify as a person with a disability to practice mindfulness and cultivate inner freedom together. Participants are guided in a variety of mindfulness practices and time is reserved for discussion. The facilitator, Marla Herron, EdD identifies as a person who is legally blind. Guidance will be provided in a manner that requires no vision in order to fully participate. Closed captioning is included for those who identify as deaf or hard of hearing (read instructions for use here). Mobility differences will also be accommodated. You are encouraged to contact the teacher via email or by calling (859) 466-1872 in advance of the class to discuss your particular needs or if you have any trouble navigating our registration process or accessing the classes. We will do our best to remove any barriers.

The DiversAbilities Community is an affinity group, which is made up of people who prefer, usually for reasons of comfort, ease of connection and/or safety, to gather with others who share a common identity, background, or interest. They are intended to provide a place of refuge for those who might otherwise not feel comfortable or welcome when entering a new mindfulness community. Affinity groups help to provide a welcoming environment where all are valued, included, and empowered.
